In light of the ongoing pandemic, we ensure the volunteer opportunities are adaptable in following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the Covid-19.

Volunteer Roles

  • In this opportunity, you help stimulate imagination and motivate the curiosity of the children with the expressiveness of your gestures and vocabulary. You are crucial in igniting the excitement of reading and telling stories, potentially inspiring the children to participate in storytelling themselves too.

    Be confident to read aloud. Make the best out of your creativity. You can sing songs, rhyme or create gestures as you tell the stories.

  • Be a guide in a child’s reading journey. You are essential in supporting the children to cultivate the reading habit and get better in their literacy. You will have the opportunity to communicate with the child and understand their struggles during each reading session.

    Your role may depend on the needs of the children. Be attentive towards readers, have patience and interact with them to foster the love of reading.

  • You will collaborate with the Librarian in ensuring the preloved books are scanned and registered in the Mari Membaca mobile application. The duties include sorting, assist in book inventory, transporting books from drop-off locations to library kiosk and distribute books safely to the children who want to borrow or return.
